Ed Thorp, Football Official, Expires
Port Chester, N.Y., June 23. - (AP) - Ed Thorp, noted football authority, died this morning at the United Hospital. Death was caused by a cerebral hemorrhage.
Thorp suffered a collapse in the locker room of the Winged Foot Country Club, Mamoroneck, on Saturday, June 9.
Mrs. Thorp was at his bedside when he died.
He was a brother of Tom Thorp, former Columbia football star. He had long been regarded as one of the best football referees in the East. He helped organize the Eastern Association of Football Officials and also had served on the advisory committee on the national football rules committee.
The Thorp home is in New York City.
