MATTHEW R. MOSER
Matthew R. Moser, a well-known baseball and basketball player here in his youth, died at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday in Veterans Hospital. He was 72.
Moser, 429 S. Second, was a retired clerk at the Liter Quarry here.
He was a member of the Y.M.C.A. basketball team when the game was first introduced by the "Y" here, and for a time played professional basketball. He later coached teams at St. Paul Evangelical and Reformed Church, where he was a member.
Moser was an Army veteran of World War I. He was a member of Zachary Taylor American Legion Post and the 40 & 8.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Walter G. Unglaub, and two brothers, Theodore F. Moser, Columbus, Ohio, and Gustav Moser.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Neurath Funeral Home, 725 E. Market. Burial will be in Cave Hill Cemetery.
